Avoid Fake I.R.S. Scams!

It may be April 1st, but I.R.S. Scam calls are no joke!  According to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), scam phone calls may inform you that you are being sued for back taxes.

According to an article by the FTC, there are specific actions to take (or not take) to ensure you are not scammed:

  • Hang Up! (do not give personal information over the phone)
  • Don't Send money by wire transfer or gift card (I.R.S. does not accept those as payment)
  • Report the call (at tigta.gov or ftc.gov/complaint)

For more information about stopping imposter scams, visit ftc.gov/imposters. And to learn about how to stop unwanted calls, including using call blocking technology, go to ftc.gov/calls
